From Dutch to Galician
After twenty years growing heritage flowers in the Netherlands, I fell in love with the microclimates, granitic soils, and wild morning mists of Galicia's Ribeira Sacra.
Here on terraced slopes carved by monks centuries ago, we grow specialty cut flowers without synthetic fertilizers, heated glasshouses, or chemical sprays — working strictly with rain, compost, and the rhythm of Atlantic seasons.

We welcome budding growers, florists, and nature lovers to live and work alongside Annemiek on the farm. Learn low-till cut flower techniques in exchange for lodging and fresh farm meals.

Deep-dive into microbial soil health, hot composting with local oak bark, and building organic raised beds without turning subsoil.
2. Seed Propagation
Soil blocking, cold stratification, winter sowing, and microclimate care for finicky specialty blooms and perennial seed saving.
3. Harvesting Technique
Dawn harvests at the optimal stage of opening to guarantee exceptional vase life, straight stems, and continual plant regeneration.
4. Natural Conditioning
Post-harvest hydrology, resting cut stems in spring water, and chemical-free storage techniques that preserve color and fragrance.

The Process & Journal

Seedlings under glass
The morning frost is still sharp over the valley. Inside the glass lean-to, sweet pea roots push deep into handmade soil blocks, soaking up early Atlantic sun.
The First Ranunculus
Silky, tightly wrapped whorls of peach and butterscotch. Harvesting at 6:30 AM while the mist still blankets the lower riverbed.
Midsummer Abundance
The garden is at full crescendo. Dahlia stems stretch six feet high; nighttime buckets overflow into the stone scullery with fragrant armloads.
Dahlia Tubers & Seed Saving
Digging up tuber clumps with the broadfork before winter rains arrive. Labeling heritage seed envelopes with copperplate calligraphy for spring.
